Blank Screen on Powered Computer
Computer is on but the screen is blackened or dimmed.
Low Brightness
Click the F6 key until desired brightness. If there is no improvement in the blank screen, try connecting an external monitor to the laptop.
Battery Not Charging
The device is plugged in but not holding a charge.
Faulty Chord or Outlet
In case it is a problem with the cord, try a different charging cord if one is available. To rule out issues with the outlet, try plugging the charging cord into a different outlet.
Faulty Battery
If none of the previous solutions work, you will most likely need to replace the battery. If so, follow this guide.
Audio Not Playing
The device is not playing audio.
Audio Is Muted or Low
Ensure that the audio icon (Shaped like a speaker) does not have an X next to it. Click on the speaker icon and slide the volume meter right until sound is sufficient for you.
App Is Muted
Right click on the audio icon (Shaped like a speaker) and click on “Open volume mixer.” From there, ensure that the volume of the individual app being applied isn’t muted. If so, slide the meter up until audio is satisfactory.
Device Is Connected to Other Speakers
Ensure that the sound isn’t playing through another device such as a Bluetooth speaker. If so, go to your audio settings, right click on the speaker icon, click on Sound settings, and the settings menu should appear. From there under “Choose your output device,” select the right device you wish to have audio play from.
Slow Computer
The device is running slower than normal.
Possible Computer Virus
If you have an anti-virus software, run the software on your computer and ensure that you have no viruses.
Disk Clean-Up
Hit the windows key on your keyboard to pull up the search bar. Type in “disk cleanup” and hit enter. When the menu pops up, select the C-drive and allow the PC to show unnecessary cache files. Check all the unnecessary files and once done click OK.
To clean up system files, follow the previous step. Before you click okay, click on “Cleanup system files,” and allow the device to scan excess files. From there click okay.
High RAM Usage
Hit Ctrl+alt+del to pull up task manager. Click on “more details.” See which app is using the most memory and close it.
Device is Not Connecting to Wi-Fi
The device is not connecting to the internet.
Wireless Connection
Ensure that the device is connected to the internet. Click on the computer icon next to the audio icon and click on Network & Internet Settings. Ensure that you are connected to the right wireless network.
Make sure your device is not on airplane mode.
Wireless Card
if the previous steps don’t work, it might be an issue with the wireless card. If so, follow this replacement guide.
