Phone will not turn on
When the 'end' key is held down, the phone does not boot.
Battery is not installed
Install the battery, then hold down end key until phone boots up. If this does not work, the battery may not be charged.
Battery is not charged
Install the battery, and plug it into the charger. Let the phone charge until the display states that the charge is complete. Hold down the end key until phone boots up. If this does not work, then the battery may be dead.
Battery is dead
If the battery is dead, it will be necessary to purchase a new battery and install it. A new battery can be purchased at any Nokia store, or on Nokia.com.
Display screen is broken
If the battery is not dead and is charged and correctly installed, the phone may only seem as if it is not turning on. The display screen may not be working correctly. If this is the case, you will need to purchase a new display screen and install it.
Logic board is broken
If the battery is working correctly, (the battery works when installed in other Nokia phones) and the display is not broken, the logic board may be the problem. If this is the case, you will need to purchase a new logic board and install it.
Phone will not charge or hold a charge
When the phone is plugged into the charger, it does not appear to be charging. When the phone is unplugged from the charger, it is not charged.
Charging port is blocked/dirty
Check the charging port (where you plug the charger into the phone). If the charging port is not clean, the phone may not be charging. The charging port can be cleaned by using a pressurized air duster. Once you have cleaned the charging port, plug the phone into the charger once more. If it does not work after that, the charging port may be loose or broken.
Charging port is broken
If the charging port is clean and still does not transfer a charge, it may be loose and therefore ineffective. If the charging port is broken, the phone may need to be replaced or fixed by Nokia professionals.
Battery is dead
If there are no problems with the charging port, the battery may be the problem. If the battery is dead, you will need to purchase a new one from any Nokia store or Nokia.com and install it.
Display is broken
The phone turns on, but the screen is blank
Dirt between the display and the logic board.
If there is dirt in between the logic board and the screen, the display may not work. You will need to take out the screen, clean it, and re-install it.
Screen is broken
If the display still does not work after being cleaned, it may be broken. You can purchase a new screen and install it.
Phone will not ring
The phone is supposed to ring upon an incoming call or text, but it does not.
Phone is not set to ring
If the phone is not ringing, first check to make sure that it is set to 'ring'. This can be done in one of two ways. There are buttons on the left side of the phone. One has a plus (+) sign on it and another has a minus (-) sign on it. These buttons can be used to raise and lower the ring volume. Raise the ring volume and see if the phone will ring.
Another was to set your phone to ring is to click menu and go to settings, then select tones which is indicated by a red music note. Adjust the 'Incoming call alert' to 'Ringing', adjust the 'Tone' to the desired ring tone, and 'Ringing volume' to its loudest setting. Set the 'Message alert tone' to desired ringtone as well. After doing this if the phone still does not ring the speaker may be broken.
Logic board is broken
The logic board may be broken. You will need to purchase a new logic board and install it.
Phone will not vibrate
The phone is supposed to vibrate upon an incoming text, picture or phone call, but it does not.
Phone is not set to vibrate
Check that the phone is on the proper setting. This can be done in one of two ways. There are buttons on the left side of the phone. One has a plus (+) sign on it and another has a minus (-) sign on it. These buttons can be used to raise and lower the ring volume. Adjust the volume so that it is on the vibrate setting.
Another was to set your phone to vibrate is to click menu and go to settings, then select tones which is indicated by a red music note. Adjust the 'Ringing volume' to its lowest setting which will be vibrate. Also set the 'Vibrating alert' to 'On'. If you have done this and the phone still will not vibrate it may be another problem.
Logic board is broken
If the phone is set to vibrate, but still does not vibrate during an incoming phone calls or text messages, there may be problems between the vibrator and the logic board. If this is the case you will need to purchase a new logic board and install it.
Phone will not unlock
Unlock code is needed
If the phone display states that it is locked, it may be necessary to contact Nokia in order to get the lock code. Customer service for this provider may be reached at 1-888-665-4228.
Phone freezes up
When the phone is on, it will randomly stop responding and shut down.
Logic board is broken
If the phone is freezing up, it may mean that there are issues with the logic board. If this is the case you will need to purchase a new logic board and install it.
