Device Does Not Turn On

The device does not turn on when the power button is pressed and the device is plugged in.

Faulty Power Adapter

If the device does not turn on when the power button is pressed. Try to plug the device into a different wall outlet, wait 10 sec then press the power button. If you see a green light the device powered on successfully. If it does not power on there may be a problem with the motherboard or the power adapter.

Faulty Remote

If the device does not turn on when using the remote. Try to use the physical button on the device to turn it on. If it powers on then try changing the batteries on the remote and clean the IR sensor at the top of the remote.

No Sound or Display Over HDMI

The device is turned on but nothing is displayed on the TV.

Faulty HDMI Cable

Make sure the HDMI cable is plugged into both the device and the TV. Then turn the device on, if there is still no signal then swap the HDMI cable with a new one.

Wrong Input Setting

Make sure the input setting on the TV matches the HDMI port the device is attached to. ie. if plugged into HDMI 1, select HDMI 1 on the TV.

Wrong Sound Input

Connect the device to your TV using an HDMI cable, then connect the Digital Out connection to your receiver/TV. When you turn the device back on making sure to select the correct audio input source from within your TV’s settings.

Disk Tray Stuck

The disc tray is not opening while the device is turned on and the eject disc button is unresponsive.

Broken/Defective Disk Tray

Turn off your device for 30 seconds then restart. Press and hold the OPEN/CLOSE or EJECT button on the Blu-ray player and simultaneously press the PLAY, EJECT, and STOP on the remote control. If this opens the disc tray then remove the disc from it. If this happens often, it may be due to a defect in the disk drive belt in which case it needs to be replaced/repaired.

Disk Stuck Inside Drive

If there is the disk that is inside that is stuck due to a disk belt malfunction, do not try to force the disk drive open as you may end up damaging the disk drive belt as well as the drive itself. To remedy this issue it is recommended that you take apart the disk drive and safely remove the disk that is stuck inside.

No Internet Connection

Can't connect the device to the internet or the device shows no internet connection.

Physical Connection Failed

Ensure the ethernet cable is properly connected to both the device and the router/modem. If the problem persists, try using a different LAN port on the router/modem. If the device still can't connect to the Internet, ensure there is an Internet connection from your router/modem to the ISP, if not try resetting your network device by either pressing the reset button or restarting the device. If there is still a problem, it is likely an issue with your ISP.

Wi-Fi Does Not Connect

If the TV displays the Check Network Connection error message, there may be a problem with your network connection. You may be only allowed to connect a certain number of devices to your network wirelessly. Check if you are within the maximum allowed limit of connected devices on your network. If the problem stills persist, there may be an issue with the Wi-Fi card that may need replacing. You can refer to the Wi-Fi card replacement guide.

Failure to Read Disks

The device doesn’t read the disk and displays ‘Cannot operate this disc’ or ‘No Disc Error’.

Incompatibility of Disks

If the region format of the device and the disk do not match, the player will be unable to read the disk. Make sure that both the disk and the device are of the same region code and try using a different disk of the correct region format to ensure to drive is not malfunctioning.

Faulty/Damaged Disks

Make sure the readable surface of the disk is not damaged or scratched. Try cleaning the disk with a microfibre cloth. If there is still an error, try using a different disk to ensure it isn’t a problem with the disk drive. If the problem still persists the disk drive may need replacing in which case, you can refer to the disk drive replacement guide.

Device Frozen on Blue Screen

The device is stuck on a blue screen after setup.

Outdated Software

This may be due software included is outdated and incompatible with your display. To remedy this, press the ‘HOME’ button, then navigate to the setup menu and select the system update option. Make sure the device is connected to the Internet either via an ethernet cable or through Wi-Fi.

Incorrect Input Source

Make sure the correct input source is selected on your display device. For example, if your HDMI cable is plugged into the ‘HDMI 1’ port make sure that the ‘HDMI 1’ source is connected on your display device.

Crap player, don’t buy. Had it 4 months and it’s stopped playing blu-ray discs. Right format disc and latest update installed. Plays dvd no problem. Can read the title of the blu-ray disc on the home screen but you only get a black screen when it tries playing it. Even blu-ray discs it played previously with no issue won’t play now. Would not buy another Sony player again. Better off with a cheaper brand like Lazer.
