The Device Won’t Charge

Despite being plugged in, the device won’t charge.

Broken Charger

Attempt to charge your device with a different charger. If it charges with the other charger, then your charger is faulty.

Blocked Charging Port

Check the charging port for any debris or moisture. Debris or moisture can stop the USB connector from fitting properly and prevent charging. Wait for the port to dry and then use a small item such as a toothpick or toothbrush to gently remove any dust or lint.

System Needs a Restart

Sometimes when the phone is not functioning properly it just needs to be restarted. Press and briefly hold down the power button until a screen listing "Power off" "Restart" and "Take Screenshot" appears. Press "Restart" to restart the device.

If unable to perform a normal restart, a hard restart may be necessary. Press and hold down the power button and volume up button at the same time for 6 seconds. Then, the device will vibrate once. If you wish to force restart the device, release the buttons. If you wish to force a shutdown, continue pressing the buttons until the device vibrates three times.

The Battery is Draining Very Fast

After charging, the phone battery depletes quickly.

Software Needs to be Updated

To check for an update, go to Settings → About phone → Software update. Install any available updates.

  • Remove all widgets in Home screen that you are not using.
  • Adjust the Brightness level in the Display settings menu.
  • Set the Sleep in the Display settings menu.
  • Enable the Smart backlight control in the Display settings menu.
  • Enable the Adaptive brightness in the Display settings menu.
  • Disable the Image enhancement in the Display settings menu.
  • Use the STAMINA mode, Battery optimisation and whitelist applications that should be allowed to send or receive background data traffic.
  • Disable Keep Wi-Fi® on during sleep.
  • Disable Email push of emails for all accounts.

An app from the app store may be causing it to be jittery. Restart the device in safe mode. By doing this you are running the phone without interference from third parties. The issue could be a result of software glitch. In this case a software repair could take care of the problem. Sony specifically recommends using the Sony Xperia Companion.

Bluetooth Won’t Connect

Bluetooth will not pair with other devices.

Both Devices Aren't Turned On or in Pairing Mode

The problem may be that your Bluetooth isn’t turned on for your phone or for the device you are pairing to. It could also be that they are not in pairing mode, so double check all device's Bluetooth's are turned on. If this is your first time trying to connect a Bluetooth device then you will have to go to your “Bluetooth settings” to ensure pairing is turned on. You may have to enter a code once a connection between devices is established, try “0000” if the code doesn’t work refer to owners manual.

Other Devices Aren't Turned Off

Xperia auto connects to the last device you paired. To ensure your phone doesn’t connect with previously paired devices, turn off the other devices and disconnect the devices from your list of devices in your bluetooth settings menu.

The device you are attempting to pair to may also need to be restarted. This process may be different depending on the device you are using.

Devices too Far Apart
