Not Booting Into Windows
Laptop turns on but doesn’t allow the user to log into the device.
Not Getting To Windows
Safe mode is a state that limits the user to a basic state. If you can boot into Safe mode, then the drivers or settings are not a problem. To get into safemode, Press “F8” as the device is starting up until the device shows a black screen with options, then you choose the “Safe Mode” option to see if your laptop will boot up windows.
Blue Screen
If the laptop turns on and shows a blue screen with text saying “Your PC ran into a problem” then follow the instructions listed. If there is an error code you can look it up on Microsoft’s website and follow their instructions.
Laptop Unable To Charge or Keep Charge
Laptop isn’t able to hold a charge whether or not the charger is plugged directly into the device.
Faulty Charger
Make sure the charger is fully plugged into the laptop. If the device still isn’t powering on or charging then the problem might be with the charger itself. In that case it would be best to get a whole new charger.
Faulty Battery
If the laptop will power on while charging but not unplugged or cannot keep charge, then a battery replacement is needed.
CPU Overheating
Laptop is overheating easily and isn’t able to cool itself down.
Too Many Open Programs
There might be too many programs running in the background. Open task manager to view what programs are currently running that you can close out of.
Clogged or Covered Air Vent
Solution could be to clean out the air vent/fan. If it’s too dusty it will overheat as there isn’t proper airflow due to blockage. Clean with compressed air or a brush. Use a toothpick for when dust is clumped together to remove easier.
Faulty CPU Fan
Fan could be broken or non operable, and might need replacement.
Low Speaker Volume
Laptop speakers have low volume output even when volume is turned up to maximum level.
Outdated Audio Driver
Your audio driver might be corrupted or need to be updated. To update your audio driver, open “Device Manager” in Windows, click on the arrow next to “Sound, video and game controllers” and then right click on the audio controller and click “Update driver”.
Replace Speakers
If the issue isn’t with the software then the speakers will need replacement.
Keyboard/Keys Not Responding
Keyboard or keys when pressed do not have an input in Windows.
Key Not Pressing Down Fully
If a key cannot be pressed then there is something stuck underneath the key. To clean under the keys either use a brush or compressed air to try and remove the debris.
Outdated Keyboard Driver
Updating the keyboards drivers can fix a software issue due to an update with Windows. To update keyboard drivers, open “Device Manager” in Windows, click on the arrow next to “Keyboards” and then right click on the Standard Keyboard and click “Update driver”.
Unable to connect to WiFi
Laptop is unable to connect to the internet.
Unable To Connect To One WiFi Signal
If you can connect to a different WiFi signal then there is a problem with your internet provider.
Unable To Connect To All WiFi Signals
Run Windows network troubleshooting and follow their instructions to fix the issue.
Outdated Network Driver
Updating the driver can help fix software issues with the WiFi. To update WiFi drivers, open “Device Manager” in Windows, click on the arrow next to “Network adapters” and then right click on the WiFi 5 and click “Update driver”.
