Roomba Fails to Dock
When your Roomba is done cleaning, it does not attach to the charging port.
Obstructions
Check if there are any objects that would interfere with your Roomba’s dock. If there is, remove the obstacle and the Roomba should dock properly.
Wheels are Jammed
It could be a problem with clogged wheels. Refer to our guide for step-by-step instructions on how to remove and clean the Roomba 692’s wheels.
Dirty Sensor
It could be a problem with the sensor. First, attempt to clean the sensor. If the Roomba continues to not dock properly, the sensor may be damaged. If this is the case, reach out to the dealer for a replacement sensor.
Roomba Fails to Charge
Even though your Roomba is plugged in, it will not charge.
Charging Port
Make sure your Roomba’s port is plugged into the wall properly. If it is, check if the outlet you are using works with other chargers, such as a phone charger. If it continues to not work, plug your Roomba into a different outlet.
Dirt
If it works on the other device, check to see if there is any dirt or debris between the Roomba and its port. Make sure to clean your Roomba.
Software Bug
The best way to take care of a software bug in your Roomba is to reset it. Simply hold the clean button until you hear a beep. Then plug your Roomba in.
Decreased Cleaning Performance
Even though your Roomba is charged and moves around, it does not clean like it is supposed to.
Dustbin is Full
If your Roomba isn’t picking up what it usually does, be sure to check your unit’s bin. Emptying the bin should improve its performance since your Roomba will stop their cleaning cycles once their bin is full.
Remove Obstacles
If there are items on the floor, the Roomba will not clean in that direction. This will result in a less than satisfactory cleaning performance. Once the obstacles are removed, the Roomba should be able to clean well.
Weekly Maintenance
You will need to clean your Roomba at least once a week. There may be something stuck to the base that interferes with the functioning of your Roomba. The brushes or wheels could have something stuck in them. Weekly maintenance will keep your Roomba from falling into disrepair.
Battery Runs Out Too Fast
Battery dies quickly even when it is charged.
Recharging
To ensure your Roomba is functioning at maximum battery, recharge Roomba after every use. If this step is skipped, it will appear as if the battery runs out too quickly.
Excess Heat
If your battery is too hot, the charging process will not start. Allow Roomba to cool before you try to recharge again.
Replacing Battery
If the battery is still running out, the battery may be damaged and you will want to replace it. Buy a new battery from iRobot and remove the old battery. For step-by-step instructions on how to change your battery, please refer to the iRobot Roomba 692 repair guide on iFixit.
Wheels Not Moving
Roomba does not move like it is supposed to.
Clogging
The wheels of the Roomba may not move due to them being clogged, as hair, debris, dust, and dirt accumulates overtime. In order to resolve this, a routine cleaning is essential. It is recommended to regularly clean them every 2-3 weeks.
Removing and Cleaning Wheels
Tools such as a soft sponge or microfiber cloth and screwdriver are needed in order to clean the wheels. Gloves and ziplock bags are optional. If the Roomba is very grimy, then the side wheels should be removed. In the case that the Roomba is not very dirty, then you may want to consider giving it a quick cleaning with a baby wipe or damp cloth. Refer to the iRobot Roomba 692 repair guide on iFixit for step-by-step instruction.
Replacing Wheels
If the wheels still are not working, replacing the wheels may be the best option. Purchase new wheels from iRobot. Remove old wheels and replace them with the new wheels. For step-by-step instruction, refer to the iRobot Roomba 692 repair guide on iFixit.
