Why do my Christmas lights stop working after a few minutes?

Hello,

I bought a set of outdoor battery operated Christmas LED lights last year and put them on a tree outside. They worked fine for a few days but I soon noticed that they would no longer be lighting 5 or 10 minutes after turning them on. I took them out of storage a few days ago again and the situation was still the same. After working ok for about 5 minutes they are off. Any ideas around what may be causing this would be greatly appreciated?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Hi Wallman,

Yes I replaced the batteries with new ones but the result was unfortunately the same.

Have you tried changing the battery? Maybe the current one is low on power. Hope this helps.

LED bulbs require more power than incandescent bulbs, so if you daisy chained more than 5 or so, they get overloaded and go out.
