The camera does not work when an SD card is inserted

The camera works great without an SD card inserted into it. When a special SD drive is inserted into the camera and tested for functionality, the camera does not turn on. The green indicator lights up when you press the power button. but the camera itself does not turn on at all. what could be the reason for the breakdown?

Update (07/03/24)

@jayeff camera brand "sony cyber shot dsc-w70". This model requires a current SD card from the manufacturer . I bought a proven working one. but when I insert it into the camera it does not turn on. it works fine without this card

Hi @lulolump

What is the make and model number of the camera?

What do you mean by a "special" SD drive? What's so special about it?

The way you describe it, it sounds almost like a short of some kind. More details like @jayeff already asked for would make it easier to give a diagnosis

@lulolump

Have you got a Memory Stick Duo and not a Memory Stick?

See p.7 of the user manual
