Power button is like always pressed.

Hi, some water went inside my customer iPhone and now is like the power button is always pressed. I tried to disassemble it, removed the flex part and the button, tried to clean it. When i turned on the phone, while it was still open, the button was working again, but when i closed it didn't turn on. I put it to charge, was turning on automatically but only opens the itunes restore screen.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi there I’d replace the flex cable, and maybe the button too just for the sake of ruling out both.

A new flex should fix it though. If it doesn’t then maybe water got somewhere else also.

Main priority flex cable before anything else.

Also check screen frame isn’t bent near it causing it to play up when in place or snagging it up. Still replace it though even if it’s the frame, unless it fixes the issue of course.

I tried by replacing the screen (because the old was broken too) but nothing, the stangest thing is that sometimes it works, but most of the times no.

Yeah without seeing it I’m 80% plus certain changing flex should fix it . It’s not the flex itself more the button part of the flex. It’s not uncommon issue with iPhones in general.

Obviously where water is involved you can never rule out a board issue. I have personally taken pictures of severely water damaged corroded phones and boards when they were advertised as waterproof! . I personally consider a water proof phone as ‘splash proof’ . Your issue is likely the power button flex/ button itself.

The difference between a good button and a bad one is literally fractions of a mm. it should feel springy and punchy not like it’s pressed in and dull.
