No power after screen replacement

Hi everybody. I was wondering if a phone can be fixed. It fell while I was on the country side (fell on rocks) so waited till I got home and I opened it only to find out a few plugs were just lifted nothing much. Upon putting them back on I accidentally FORGOT to unplug the battery and while plugging the screen properly a shot appeared and some little smoke 😭😳. After that it had a backlight issue. Thought it was the screen but nope, what would sometime happen is it would turn on, appear on itunes but still no display. Now it doesn’t even pop up on iTunes anymore. Is this a fixable phone or should I just give up on it?

Thanks 🙏🏽

Sounds like you shorted something on the board causing the backlight ic chip to fail. You need a logic board repair or replacement.

After posting this I remembered that at some point itunes did pick the phone up so I tried it again and iTunes detects the phone as present but obviously can’t access it cos it’s locked. I don’t know if this changes anything. The screen was replaced with a new one still nothing happened. Before I replaced the screen I could hear the taptic vibrations on the home button but not anymore

It changes it from being dead to potentially fixable. I’d just be concerned the backlight IC or something on that circuit has blown. I’d take it to a repair tbh, and explain that way they might be able to diagnose for you. It shouldn’t be that expensive tbh.

A repair shop. I meant they can test it with different parts and should be able to diagnose a failed backlight ic using the boards test points. They also should be able to quote or recommend somewhere to send it off for repair. Get a few quotes/ opinions if possible.

If you saw smoke, there are probably multiple issues. Smoke usually comes from the battery, which is why you are having a power issue. The smoke could have damaged the screen as well as caused the backlight issues.

I would examine the motherboard for any visible damage and try a battery replacement first. If the backlight issue persists, buy a screen.

Luckily 6s parts are cheap.

iTunes detects the phone as present. Tried it after posting this and it shows on iTunes.
