Ensure that the new spark plug is dry.

Use a gap measuring tool to ensure that the spark plug gap is appropriate.

It is optional to lightly coat the threads with anti-seize to help remove them in the future.

Do not get anti-seize on the electrodes (the gap at the top of the threads).
