Camera won't turn on

Verify that the camera is charged and that the battery is inserted properly.

If it still doesn't turn on, the battery may need to be replaced.

Memory card is protected

On the memory card there is a small switch. Verify that it is not set to [lock]. If it is, simply slide it to unlock.

Flash is not working

Verify that the camera is not set to suppressed flash. Cycle through the flash settings by pressing the flash button until reaching the desired setting.

Note that the flash does not go off in the scenery, night scenery, fireworks or starry sky modes.

The flash battery may be dead. Here is our guide to replacing it.

LCD screen turns off when camera is on

Verify that the camera is not in power save mode.

Verify that the camera does not need to be charged.

If the LCD screen is cracked, or never turns on it may need to be replaced.

The picture will not save

Verify that the memory card is fully inserted.

Verify that the mode dial is correctly set.

Verify that there is enough space on the memory card.

A picture is not showing up

Verify that the memory card is inserted properly.

Verify that the camera is set to playback mode.

The camera becomes warm

The camera may become warm during continued use, but this should not affect the quality of the photos or endanger the camera.

The lens clicks

The sound of the clicking is normal and caused by the automatic adjustment of the lens during zoom or camera movement.

The picture is displayed in black

Sometimes when pictures have been edited or rotated on a computer they come up black on the LCD screen.

The picture is too bright or too dark

Verify that the exposure is adjusted correctly.

The picture is out of focus

Verify that the mode dial is set properly.

Verify that the subject is within the correct range.

Verify that the camera is being held still while pictures.

The lens may be need to be replaced.

The casing is cracked

The buttons on top of the camera are broken

My FX01 has a broken screen and has been unused for a couple of years. Does the broken screen prevent other parts of the camera working although the lens and cover emerge when switched on but nothing else happens. Will replacing the screen restore its function or is something else wrong with it? Gordon Bendall
