Background

The Sony CPF-IP001 Cradle Audio System is Sony's first speaker designed to accommodate iPods. The speakers are compatible with the first and second generation iPod Nano, the fourth and fifth generation iPod, and the iPod Mini. The speaker system includes Sony's "S-Master" digital amplifier, a main speaker, a docking port for iPods, a separate housing for the subwoofer, and a remote controller. The Sony CPF-IP001 Cradle Audio System was released in 2007 and discontinued in 2011.

Identification

To identify that your device is a Sony CPF-IP001, look on the bottom of the main speaker, you should find a sticker that says "Model no. CPF-IP001P". The model that ends with a "P" refers to just the main speaker, where "CPF-IP001" refers to the speaker and subwoofer system.
