I am a National Security Directorate Communications Partner supporting the Nuclear Smuggling Detection and Deterrence Program (NSDD). I have supported NSDD since she started at the Lab in 2014. Graduating from Idaho State University with a degree in journalism, I began my career at a newspaper in Idaho. I was recruited by the Idaho National Laboratory where I worked as a senior technical editor for the Acceptable Knowledge group at the Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Project. In 2010, I was recruited by CH2M HILL Plateau Remediation Company and joined the team at the Hanford Site leading regulatory document production. With 16 years of experience and diverse training, I excel at communications strategy, management, editing, and document architecture, and I enjoy working within NSDD and other directorates to enhance, articulate, and implement the overall strategy and mission of the Laboratory.
I am a new member to the STC, attend all leadership classes I can find that are close to work, offer new skills, and will enhance my role and help me become a better manager (I am learning a lot as I go). I like to write books in my spare time, though this requires the house to be remodeled before I can complete a chapter—typical writer’s block. My dogs are the sweetest animals and deserve all of the french fries (though they rarely get them), and my 8-year-daughter is already a fashion icon at her school. I am very excited that Hockey season is upon us and that football season is in full swing (though I am 1-3 in my fantasy football league).
My favorite place in the whole world (so far) is New Orleans.
Most of my prize projects are on floppy disks. And I am not able to share my work. I am very excited though to use my skills that I have learned over the last two decades and apply them to the work I will be doing for iFixit. Very exciting to work on something outside of my dedicated field.
I am able to share this link that explains a little bit about the program that I support. https://www.pnnl.gov/news-media/20th-ann... .
